2. What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you?
When I was in 3rd grade, I won a scooter at a school Halloween carnival. I was not in the room when they announced the winner. My friends came busting out of the cafeteria with the scooter, chanting my name. I hopped on and rode around the parking lot as my friends chanted “Tate, Tate.” If you are picturing a motorized scooter, you’re mistaken. This is a 1985 version of a Razor. I think that was the only time I ever rode it – but what a glorious ride!
3. Who was your favorite singer/singing group when you were in Middle School?
BoyzIIMen – their album “Cooleyhighharmony” blew my mind.
4. If a movie was made about your life, who would play you and what would the title be?
I’d prefer Owen Wilson because I think he is hilarious, but they’d probably cast Ralph Macchio (the Karate Kid) cause most people say he is my doppleganger. Doppleganger, what a great word. Instead of a movie, I’d prefer it be an hour long TV drama series on TNT titled “Tater.” The show could be about whatever as long as my character has a five o’clock shadow and carries a gun.
5. What’s something we should know about you?
I abbreviate words when I talk. It’s almost turned into a second language I call Tatelish. For example the sentence “My occupation is Director of the Wesley Foundation” when translated into Tatelish would be “My occupashe is Direc of the Wes Foundashe.”
6. Introduce us to your family.
I have a beautiful wife named Ashley. She is my best friend, and I think she is smokin’ hot! We recently had our first baby. Brylee Cade was born on October 12th. We are loving being parents and think our baby is the coolest one ever! I also have the best dog in the world, and by best I mean a little crazy slash funny. His name is Hogan and his favorite things are licking faces and licking other faces. Hogan’s best friend is our cat named Kitty. By best friend, I mean, archenemy. Don’t make assumptions, Kitty is a boy. He carries his name confidently.
